I learned to play piano by pounding out the Floyd Cramer licks & George Strait two-step favorites in country music dancehalls. Other influences crept in…cocktail, blues, jazz, pop, but especially New Orleans styles.
The grooves of Fats Domino, Professor Longhair, Dr. John & Allen Toussaint have a special appeal. Fat Tuesday is my favorite holiday of the year.
As country music changed so did my music. “A former girlfriend dragged me (grudgingly) to Alley Cats & my first dueling piano experience in 1999.”
My goal has been to integrate all these elements into the piano presentation.
